April Poetry Month, Day 9, NaPoWriMo: Magic 9 Rhyme Scheme

Sunny Recess at Finch Elementary

We built fairy houses out of rows of bull pine
needles, walls marked off in gathered rounds
placed along the grass playground in prickly lines.
At the edge of Audubon Park’s treed copse
fourth grade girls, believing in sprites, played divine
apparitions with wings and flowing skirts, halos;
sweet voices mesmerizing their squeals and thine.
Interrupting the magic, recess bell clanged, the sound
calling them back to math homework assigned.
